Under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator aids and facilitates the human resources processes within all departments of the Village of Bensenville. This position focuses on recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and administrative support.

- Working knowledge of basic computer and typing skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
Key Responsibilities
- Posts open Village positions on recruitment sites and Village’s career page.
- Screens and reviews job applications to schedule and conduct phone screenings.
- Responsible for scheduling and preparing packets for interviews with hiring managers.
- Prepares offer letters to candidates for Director of Human Resources.
- Follow-up with applicants at the end of the recruiting process.
- Coordinates pre-placement medical exams & background checks for potential new hires.
- Administers and processes new hire paperwork.
- Maintains and processes accurate and complete HR and employee records.
- Processes enrollment and/or change forms for Health, Dental, Prescription coverage, flexible spending accounts, and deferred compensation program, among other voluntary benefits.
- Conducts audits of benefits and other HR programs and recommends corrective action.
- Processes benefit elections through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
- Performs functions associated with administering the Family Medical Leave Act, unemployment report, bi-annual EEO4 reports, annual MVR, and IDOT random drug and alcohol testing.
- Assists the Director of Human Resources with a variety of human resource projects.
- Enters HR related invoices into MUNIS for payment. Check requisitions for accuracy prior to processing.
- Chairperson of the Employee Engagement & Wellness Committee
- Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
- Responsible for prioritizing safety in the workplace by strictly adhering to and familiarizing yourself with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in and complete all mandatory training assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Microsoft Office Suite, experience with Paylocity or other HRIS/payroll software, experience with workflow management systems – such as MUNIS and/or Cartegraph - a plus, knowledge with Canva
Education / Experience / Certifications and/or LicensingRequired:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Prior public sector administrative experience helpful; prior public sector Human Resources experience highly desirable.
- Three (3) years to five (5) years of clerical experience or any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Preferred:
- Sixty (60) hours completed at an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 30 pounds.
