Overview
Phlebotomist I – Benicia, CA
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with rotational weekends
Licensing:
This position requires a state phlebotomy license. Quest does not accept NHA licenses in CA, WA, or NV.
Pay range: $24.10 – $28.75 per hour
Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications. Market and organizational factors are considered. Eligible candidates may receive annual performance bonus compensation.

- Collect specimens according to established procedures (e.g., drug screens, biometric screening, insurance exams).
- Administer oral solutions as trained.
- Research test/client information and verify all orders using lab technology systems, client contact, and approved tools.
- Navigate computer systems and accurately enter data.
- Obtain identification and enter billing information; collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
- Process specimens (labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, preparing for transport) as required by test order.
- Perform non-patient-facing duties (inventory, stocking supplies, sanitizing, filing, phones, email).
- Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data as required.
- Maintain phlebotomy logs (e.g., maintenance and temperature logs) in a timely manner.
- Complete online and in-person training courses timely.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical training (medical assistant or paramedic) preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington
Work Experience
- One year of phlebotomy experience preferred
- Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred
- Keyboard/data entry experience
The position requires the ability to communicate effectively in English.
