Requirements
Must have:- Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering or a related engineering field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 6 years experience using Altium Designer or similar schematic/layout software.
- At least 6 years background in component evaluation and selection focusing on cost, availability, and modularity.
- A minimum of 6 years programming experience in Embedded C, C, and C++.
- Six years of experience in integrating electromechanical PCB assemblies.
- Over 6 years experience in conducting thermal analysis of power components on PCB assemblies.
- Six years experience in digital hardware design, including microcontrollers and communication protocols like Ethernet and RS485.
- Minimum of 6 years experience in analog hardware design (ADC, sensor scaling, noise filtering).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in designs progressing to production with volume manufacturing and DFM considerations.
- Proven capability in designing, constructing, and testing controller assemblies used in field applications, with exposure to real-world failures or customer issues.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, including rapid prototyping.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time as required by the company.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or a qualified U.S. Person as per ALU 22
CFR 120.15.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out schematic capture, PCB layout, component selection, and generate bills of material while producing PCB fabrication documentation.
- Create and develop digital circuitry for real-time control applications using microcontrollers, digital signal controllers, or processors.
- Develop digital communication interfaces, including CAN, RS232, RS485, Ethernet, SPI, or I2C.
- Design and create analog circuitry for measurements and signal generation while integrating various sensors such as temperature, pressure, and flow.
- Build power electronics for controlling DC-DC converters or motor drivers.
- Conduct thermal analysis on PCBA components to assist in selection and assess thermal management needs.
- Perform advanced dynamic circuit simulations focusing on frequency response and power dissipation.
- Develop firmware and software for custom PCBAs that manage and communicate with gas compression and cryogenic systems.
- Collaborate with fellow engineers to incorporate new controllers into production units.
- Secure prototype quantities of components and PCB assemblies, including assembly and soldering when necessary.
- Design and construct prototypes that are functionally representative, utilizing both physical and computer models.
- Formulate and execute test plans and procedures to validate new technologies.
- Conduct tests on relevant prototypes and meticulously document outcomes.
- Execute technical trade studies to inform product development strategies.
- Prepare and present findings during comprehensive design reviews.
- Engage in technical problem-solving for active products by collaborating with cross-departmental teams.
- Work alongside Production and Supply Chain teams to support PCBA production via Contract Manufacturers.
- Assist Test Engineering with EMC testing and qualification by developing immune low EMI circuits or recognizing necessary improvements.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis of electrical and electronic system discrepancies.
- Design circuitry and assemblies to conform to regulatory standards like IPC, CE, UL, FCC, or MIL-Spec.
- Work independently with minimal oversight, driving product development to meet specified requirements.
- Prioritize rapid prototyping in project execution.
