Local Bus Drivers needed! $25.75 to $34.54 per hour dependent on experience for drivers with Class B or A license. Are you looking for long‑term work with great benefits? Cascades East Transit (COIC) is looking for qualified drivers to provide transit services throughout the Central Oregon community.

Work schedules are generally Monday through Friday. Weekend work may be required depending on the assigned schedule. Part‑time schedules range from 20‑36 hours per week depending on classification.

Positions are based out of Redmond or Bend. Routes serve throughout Central Oregon.

Role of Department

The overarching purpose of COIC’s transportation program is to strengthen regional transportation services and infrastructure through the development and implementation of regionally based transportation plans, administration and operations, service coordination, and project development. A regional approach to transportation enhances efficiencies among transportation organizations and ensures regional connectivity for Central Oregon’s residents, businesses, and visitors.

Job Purpose

Provide safe and efficient transportation services for Central Oregon public transportation passengers. As the initial contact with the public, drivers must be courteous and professional and represent COIC in a manner that promotes the organization’s positive reputation. Drivers must be capable of dealing with a wide range of personalities, physical abilities and passenger situations, treating passengers with respect and understanding. Drivers will assure safety for themselves and passengers at all times, assist in reporting, training and quality assurance activities, and be responsible for ticket inventory and accurate recording of vehicle, passenger and other data.

  • Safely operate and transport passengers in a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Safely and courteously assist passengers with mobility devices such as walkers, canes, crutches or wheelchairs and assist with carry‑on items.
  • When necessary assist passengers with loading and unloading equipment on external carriers.
  • Collect appropriate passenger fare and record passenger trips on a mobile data terminal.
  • Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip internal and external vehicle inspections according to CET procedures.
  • Report vehicle defects or problems to supervisor.
  • Report accidents or other traffic issues to Dispatchers.
  • Keep interior of vehicle clean, wash exterior of Zusammen as assigned.
  • Write daily reports in a logical and readable manner.
  • Perform other duties that may tässä assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must have and maintain a current Oregon Class B, or equivalent driver's license, and a CDL passenger endorsement with lifted air brake restriction within 30 days of hire. CDL requirements are essential and failure to maintain CDL status may result in termination.
  • Ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle and assure passenger safety throughout.
  • Must meet standards for a safety‑sensitive position.
  • Must have good working knowledge of motor vehicles.
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions to perform work.
