ABOUT THE JOB:

This position performs a variety of road maintenance activities ranging from manual labor tasks, traffic control, and operation of light to heavy automotive, road maintenance, and construction equipment. The Public Works Equipment Operator will operate a variety of medium to large‑sized trucks, tractors, trailers, and equipment involving the manipulation of auxiliary controls as well as perform a wide variety of manual tasks associated with departmental operations and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Care, maintenance, and safe operation of hand‑operated power tools including chainsaws and jackhammers.
  • Understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others at all times.
What You Will Bring:

Knowledge of or experience with:

  • Experience and skills in heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to perform general equipment care and maintenance tasks.
  • Maintaining records.
  • Occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Skill in:

  • Working in a cooperative team environment including working with site attendants and other equipment operators to achieve daily goals and objectives in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Interact with the public in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Safe driving practices.

$4,354.17 to $5,557.25 per month for a 172.67 hour work month.

PW Equipment Operator, Heavy

$5,040.57 to $6,433.18 per month for a 172.67 hour work month.

Excellent County benefit package when eligible. This union‑represented position is available immediately.
