Primary Purpose
This position will support the eLearning and Academic Technology department by delivering basic technical assistance and direction to faculty and students, performing basic troubleshooting and content management within the Canvas Learning Management System ( LMS ), facilitating the operation of multimedia environments and streaming classrooms, assisting with data archiving processes, and contributing to various projects or college events as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the eLearning Department via phone, email, and office visits. Refer customers to appropriate person for assistance, if needed.
- Provide basic multimedia support to faculty, including user training, troubleshooting, and assistance with tools such as Camtasia and Kaltura.
- Collaborate with ITS Student Tech support to deliver technical support for Canvas.
- Assist with data management and archival tasks for Canvas artifacts, media, and other department data.
- Provide live technical support for dedicated steaming classrooms, including setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Direct faculty and students to department resources such as digital accessibility, course design, and technologies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the duties and responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. The incumbent is expected to follow College work rules and policies.
- Proficient in utilizing email, internet applications, word processing, and spreadsheet software (preferably MS Office Suite).
- Strong foundational knowledge of computer operations and keyboard skills.
- Prior experience or familiarity with a learning management system (e.g., Canvas or similar platform).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated precision in grammar, spelling, and proofreading.
- Demonstrated ability to follow directives and collaborate within a team environment.
- Competence in operating standard office equipment and telecommunication devices or software.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation and filing.
- Basic digital literacy, with a commitment to learning and utilizing online teaching tools and digital content creation platforms (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Camtasia, or equivalent).
Ergonomic Requirements
Work will be performed during regular working hours in an office setting, mostly sitting with some periods of extended standing. Occasional lifting between 10-25 lbs. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms and requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary telephonic conversations.
Computer screen is used more than 50 percent of the time. Must be able to climb or pull self upward and guide, feeding materials into proper position. Some travel will be required to other COCC campuses. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- High School diploma or GED
- Familiarity with common office technologies (MS Office, Internet, Email)
- Previous experience in customer service
- Experience or familiarity with using a Learning Management System (e.g., Canvas) in any setting (education, workplace, etc.)
