Brightwater Senior Living is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join our Human Resources and Payroll team. This position plays a key role in supporting our multi-state U.S. communities and multiple provinces across Canada. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and thrives in a collaborative environment where accuracy and compliance are essential.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and assist the payroll team in processing accurate and timely payroll for U.S. and Canadian team members across multiple entities, states, and provinces.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and provincial payroll regulations, including tax filings, remittances, and reporting.
- Review and audit payroll runs for accuracy, ensuring proper deductions, garnishments, benefits, and timekeeping data.
- Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and Operations to maintain data integrity between systems (e.g., UKG Ready, Payworks, OnShift, Yardi).
- Support the transition and integration of new communities into existing payroll systems.
- Manage and resolve complex payroll inquiries while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Prepare reports and assist with reconciliations, audits, and year-end processes (W-2, T4, ROE, etc.).
- Stay current on changes to U.S. and Canadian payroll legislation and communicate updates to the team.
- Provide leadership, training, and support to payroll specialists to ensure consistent processing standards.
- 2+ years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-state and multi-province processing.
- 2+ years in a payroll leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and provincial payroll laws and reporting requirements.
- Experience with payroll systems such as
UKG Ready
and
Payworks
(or similar platforms). - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.
