Overview
The City of Bend is accepting applications for one (1) temporary, part-time Employee Health & Safety Program Intern in the Risk & Emergency Management Department. This is a non-represented, hourly, non-exempt (overtime eligible) position. The City may use this job posting to create an eligibility list for future hiring purposes. This position is approved for 16 hours per week with flexibility to create a schedule during business hours that work for the successful candidate. This could be two full 8-hour days or fewer hours spread over multiple days in a work week. The expected duration of this internship is up to one year.
This role is pivotal in improving and maintaining City wide safety compliance through document processing, record keeping, program organization and support, and providing important communication to City staff to keep employees safe and healthy.
A typical day might include: updating, improving, and maintaining a record keeping program for specific health and safety documents; creating online training courses by use of an internal training platform; supporting safety trainings by recording class participation, maintaining training schedules, and distributing supportive training documents.

Responsibilities- Maintenance of safety record keeping program
- Safety training support, including calendar, training records, and training document management
- Occupational health appointments scheduling support
- Document creation for specific hazard programs
- Assist in incident and injury analysis
- Support workers’ compensation claims management
- Participate with and support multiple safety committees
We are looking for someone who is positive, honest, and able to adjust well to change. This person should pay close attention to details and work carefully and accurately. The best candidates will know about Oregon OSHA rules and basic occupational health and medicine. They should also be good at solving problems and improving processes. Previous experience in administrative support is preferred, along with the ability to quickly organize and manage records.

Minimum Qualifications- Education: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED); AND
- Experience: 1 to 2 years’ experience performing program support (operational, logistical, project, training) tasks; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Current and valid Driver's license per City policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Any safety or health training or background relatable to OR OSHA.

Starting CompensationStarting compensation is $22.00/hour.
