The Cardiac Device Technician II is responsible for performing device checks, interpretations, and programming of pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators, loop recorders, and home monitoring equipment. The position processes patient data with clinical judgment, facilitates clear patient education regarding cardiac care, medications, disease processes, and procedures, and makes clinical decisions under physician protocol. The role does not directly manage other caregivers.

• Prepares patients for device checks, including interviews, medical history, consent, and procedure teaching.
• Instructs patients on pacemaker, ICD, loop record, and home monitoring device functions.
• Facilitates pre‑procedural appointments for device generator replacements, new implants, and laser extraction.
• Incorporates patient and family education and surgical site infection (SSI) strategies per SCIP and IHI best practices.
• Provides ongoing patient teaching and serves as a resource for intra‑operative and post‑discharge device monitoring.
• Provides phone advice to patient calls using critical thinking and physician protocols.
• Evaluates and manages devices under provider supervision.
• Maintains device patient follow‑up scheduling in the electronic medical record for safety and clinic protocol compliance.
• Ensures correct billing, bill dropping, and coding of device checks.
• Supports organizational vision, mission, and values in all activities.

  :
  Bachelor's Degree in Exercise or Health Science, or related field.

  :
  Equivalent education/experience such as a High School Diploma/GED plus five (5) years in cardiac telemetry, ECG, electrophysiology tech, monitor tech, device industry, or device monitoring may be considered.

  :
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider Certification.
• National Certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International OR National Certified Cardiac Device Specialist OR National Cardiac Device Remote Monitoring Specialist OR National Certified
