Position OverviewOutpatient Counselors provide high-quality clinical treatment services tailored to individual needs, incorporating the latest research and evidence-based practices, while assisting clients in successfully completing their treatment. Counselors maintain a minimum of 20 billable services per week and deliver treatment in accordance with ethical standards and Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs). They foster a therapeutic environment where staff collaboratively determine the most effective clinical approach and act as representatives of Rimrock Trails mission both on and off the work site.
EssentialPosition Responsibilities Clinical
- Establish and model a helping relationship characterized by warmth, respect, authenticity, concreteness, and empathy.
- Demonstrate understanding of diagnostic placement criteria and treatment modalities for substance use and mental health disorders.
- Utilize a variety of models for the treatment of individuals in a culturally competent way.
- Collaboratively develop interventions with clients.
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy meeting documentation standards and time frames; explore need for family therapy for each episode of care unless otherwise indicated.
- Apply a trauma-informed, holistic approach to clients and families.
- Utilize collaborative documentation.
- Actively engage as part of the therapeutic process to achieve treatment goals.
- Utilize individualized interventions to address the needs of clients, groups, and families.
- Demonstrate appropriate physical and emotional boundaries.
- Adhere to professional code of ethics.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Federal and State laws, agency policies and procedures, and all HIPAA regulations.
- Attend required training and acquire education hours needed to uphold certification/licensure.
- Meet regularly with the Clinical Supervisor per current OARs.
- Obtain CADC certification within no more than two years of hire.
- Demonstrate effective communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Complete ICOD training within 1 year of hire.
- Value the importance of family participation in treatment.
- Maintain weekly contact with the family (in person, via phone, or video conference) to provide updates on client progress and engage the family in therapy when indicated.
- Utilize collaborative documentation to increase client engagement, efficiency, and productivity.
- Produce clinical documentation within designated time frames.
- Complete encounters report for each pay period and submit to the OP Director by end of business on the last scheduled day.
- Perform filing, copying, and electronic filing tasks as needed.
- Leverage referrals to higher levels of care and other community resources when necessary.
- Establish a continuum of care with family/natural supports, Recovery Mentor, mental health counselor, community justice officer, and other identified supports.
- Understand available insurance/resources and support clients in accessing benefits.
- Develop knowledge of housing and basic needs resources.
- Professionalism and communication: display sound judgment, reason, and effective verbal and written communication.
- Maintain professional standards of conduct.
- Follow through on commitments and responsibilities.
- Work independently and notify Supervisor of issues in a timely manner.
- Additional hourly pay for licensure of 5+ years, bilingual, CADC.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Clinical Behavioral Health.
- Eligible for Oregon Registered Associate status.
- Licensure preferred (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, PsyD, PhD).
- CADC I certification or higher (CADC2 preferred) or be eligible to obtain within 2 years of hire.
