Central Oregon Pediatric Associates (COPA) of Bend, Oregon, the largest pediatric practice in the region, is hiring a part-time Pediatric Behavioral Health Clinician (LCSW; LPC or LMFT). Part-time shifts can include weekday days or evenings as well as weekends.

At COPA, the Pediatric Behavioral Health Clinician (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) plays an integral role serving patients at our friendly and welcoming medical clinic for children of all ages. A Pediatric Behavioral Health Clinician helps improve recognition, treatment and management of psychosocial/behavioral problems and psychosocial aspects of medical conditions.

Duties

  • Adhere to the organization’s procedures, guidelines, core competencies, roles and responsibilities outlined in the Behavioral Health (BH) program model, including participation as a member of the Patient-Centered Primary Care Home (PCPCH) team and work to ensure compliance with Medical Home Standards and attestation.
  • Assist the primary care provider in recognizing, treating, and managing behavioral health and biopsychosocial issues, including screening, early intervention, psychological assessment and diagnosis with brief psychotherapeutic interventions as needed.
  • Provide brief follow-up, including relapse prevention and education, with self-management skills and educational information necessary for patients and families to participate in their own treatment and recovery.
  • Provide timely and succinct feedback to primary care physicians regarding consultation findings and recommendations (formal in-services, consult responses, medical chart documentation) and informal communication as appropriate.
  • Assist in coordinating referrals from primary care to specialized mental health services, and step-down referrals to be managed through the primary care clinic, including communication with schools, public agencies, social services, and other community partners as appropriate.
  • Work with the medical team to develop clinical and behavioral health pathways for targeted patient groups (e.g., asthma, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, obesity).
  • Provide ongoing consultation services for a subset of patients requiring monitoring and follow-up (e.g., Collaborative Care Model).
  • Document all patient care in the proper systems in a timely manner in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory agencies.
  • Familiarize self with COPA organizational structure, communications systems, billing process, and complete billing and coding documentation within the time assigned.
  • Keep all licenses and appropriate certifications current and unrestricted.
  • Provide and maintain a safe environment for patients, families, healthcare members and guests.
  • Conduct all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, and cooperates with investigations as required.
  • Train and develop other staff in the behavioral health program.
  • Participate in Quality metric documenting and tracking.
Qualifications

Education and Certification:

  • Required:

    Master’s Degree in related field.
  • Required:

    Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW);
    Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Required:

    Current unrestricted Oregon licensure in good standing as required for education. Ability to become credentialed with insurers (meets all attestation requirements).
  • Maintain AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification.

Experience:

  • Preferred:
    Experience with pediatric medical populations and LCSW, LPC or LMFT post licensure experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse population; strong nursing process skills; analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities; ability to make independent judgments and prioritize workload; knowledge of community services; ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Epic EMR experience preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Use of clear and audible speaking voice; ability to hear normal speech in person, over the telephone or through required technology. Ability to sit or stand for long periods; frequent keyboard use; walking; occasional lifting up to 30 pounds and on rare occasions up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include working with computer monitors for long periods and various vision needs.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Working Conditions
  • Exposure to hazards including proximity to mechanical parts and chemicals; potential occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials per OSHA plan.
  • Travel between COPA clinics, the business office, and community partners as required.
