Min Hourly Rate: $15.05 (Standard); $14.05 (Non-Urban); $16.30 (Portland Metro)
Max Hourly Rate: $21.50 (Standard); $21.00 (Non-Urban); $22.00 (Portland Metro)
Position SummaryThis recruitment will fill a part‑time position (maximum 24 hours per week) at Oregon State University Cascades (OSU‑Cascades) in Bend, OR. Disability Access Services (DAS) facilitates access to U.S. programs and services for qualified students with disabilities through accommodations, education, consultation, and advocacy. DAS supports students through transition experiences, learning, self‑empowerment, and graduation.

Position DutiesAn Access Assistant (AA) is a student employee hired by DAS to assist students with disabilities in performing tasks that are a required component of their course. AAs do not do the work for the student, but may manipulate materials, write, or complete other course‑related tasks as directed by the student. AAs will only help carry out course‑related procedures that the student is unable to complete due to their disability.
Duties may include:
- Work one‑on‑one with students as a scribe or reader in class or Testing Center
- Lifting and/or physical manipulation of lab materials or objects
- Describing visual materials or surroundings
- Voicing for a student (typically, by reading from a computer screen)
- Attending field trips with a student to provide access to the environment
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
Enrollment Standards:
- High School student:
Regularly enrolled or participating in a home‑schooling program - Undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
* International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full‑time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS) and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
