Natural Resources and Sustainability
Position Title: Instructor (fixed‑term, non‑tenure‑track, full or part‑time)
Appointment Type: Academic Faculty
Location: Bend, Oregon – OSU Cascades campus
Job Summary: The Natural Resources and Sustainability Program at OSU Cascades invites applications for one or more fixed‑term instructor positions. The term appointments begin on 16 September 2025, 16 December 2025, or 16 March 2026. Instructors will teach undergraduate courses in Natural Resources, Sustainability, Geology, Fish & Wildlife, Forestry, or Soil Science on a term‑by‑term basis. Remaining terms may be reviewed for renewal at the Dean’s discretion.
The incumbent is expected to foster critical thinking, advance student knowledge and skills, and provide an intellectual foundation for the curriculum.
- Teach course(s) term‑by‑term in one or more of the following disciplines:
Natural Resources, Sustainability, Geology, Fish & Wildlife, Forestry, Soil Science. - Administer course assessment processes and continuously improve teaching effectiveness.
- Complete driving requirements if the course requires travel with a university vehicle or personal vehicle on behalf of the university.
- Advise and mentor students: be available for office hours, complete record‑keeping and minor administrative tasks.
- Master’s degree in one of the fields listed (or a related field) – required.
- Ph.D. or terminal degree in a related field – preferred.
- Teaching experience at the college or university level.
- Strong commitment to undergraduate education, equity, and student service.

- Referrals or support for the background check process are required; a valid driver’s license and successful motor‑vehicle history check are mandatory because the role involves driving.
