Total Care Emergency Room in Benbrook is seeking a PRN ER Registered Nurse for mixed shifts.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse provides and coordinates patient care, evaluates changes in patient health, and provides education to patients and their families in an emergency care setting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in accordance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act
  • Assess and reassess patient condition in a timely manner
  • Document observations, plan of care and patient outcomes accurately and timely
  • Administer medications and IV therapy as ordered by provider
  • Maintain established departmental policies and procedures related to quality assurance and safety
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Perform IV initiation/infusion/therapy, blood draws, cardiac monitoring, pulse oximetry
  • Apply oxygen, administer nebulized treatment, clean and bandage wounds, apply splints
  • Provide basic bedside care and recognize and effectively treat life-threatening conditions
  • Use triage process to ensure timely and appropriate care to patients
  • Assist physicians with procedures including laceration repair, moderate sedation, incision and drainage
  • Review all discharge instructions with patient and take vital signs prior to discharge
  • Ensure adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
Requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent judgement
  • Detail oriented with exceptional interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work all shifts including day, evening, and weekend hours as needed
  • Knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, and CLIA standards and requirements
  • Ability to accurately read and write medical terminology
  • Ability to work independently using sound judgement in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong team player with polite and professional demeanor
Schedule
  • PRN Mixed shift
  • 12 hour shift
Education & Certifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current RN license and licensed to work in the state of Texas
  • CPR/BLS Certification required
  • ACLS Certification required
  • PALS Certification required
  • Registered Nurse: 2 years (Required)
Work Location Physical Demands

Must be able to bend, lift, twist, and/or stand/walk for up to 12 hours daily. May be required to lift patients.

Physical exertion as well as hazardous work conditions; this position may involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.
