Job Summary
This position is responsible for utilizing the latest in geospatial/remote sensing technology including operation of UAS (drones), Lidar, and Aerial Photogrammetry/Thermal, Mobile, and Terrestrial sensors in support of the company's business lines. The Geospatial Party Chief will work on mapping missions throughout our offices and will also work in the office post-processing 3D data for a variety of deliverables. The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced pilot’s, technicians, and RPLS's.

Major Tasks- Acquire airborne, mobile, and terrestrial data using various remote sensing systems.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and prepare equipment.
- Perform classification, feature extraction and mapping from processed LIDAR data.
- Work with point cloud data collected by airborne, mobile, terrestrial methods.
- Extract 3D and planimetric information from the data and generate CAD mapping for delivery.
- Organize crew manpower and resources to perform assigned survey tasks quickly and efficiently.
- Manage daily work assignments/tasks of the assigned field crew, including use of equipment, preparation of sketches and notes, and electronic data collection.
- Ensure field survey activities are performed in accordance with standards set by the company and industry standards of practice.
- Ensure crew’s adherence to all safety procedures and use of all required personal protective equipment.
- Daily communication with Field Supervisor and/or Project Manager managing the field survey operations on which the Party Chief is working.
- Conduct daily data downloading.
- Prepare daily time sheets, data logs, JSA's, and expense reports.
- Mentor and train on tasks as needed.
- Drive vehicle to and from job sites and company premises when needed.
- Proficiency with use of all required survey equipment
- Understanding of and proficiency with mid-level math skills
- Knowledge of proper retracement of land boundaries and ALTA's
- Introductory knowledge of Trimble Business Center Micro Station, AutoCAD Civil3D, and Pix4D and other geospatial software packages, preferred but not required
- Familiarity with state plane coordinates systems and geodetic calculations
- Excellent leadership skills

- Good analytical skills
Up to 76% travel. Travel to worksites may be required (Up to 75%).

Employee may be asked to walk on uneven surfaces, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, hike up and down steep slopes carrying up to 50 pounds of survey equipment, bend, squat, dig monument holes, pound in stakes and rebar monuments, carry and use brush cutting equipment, drive a four-wheeler or snowmobile, climb stairs, sit for extended periods of time, work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time, type/key-in data, and answer telephones frequently as needed.
