The Seasonal Beach Coordinator performs a variety of operational tasks to ensure the safety and security of County beaches and parks. This position is required to work evenings, weekends and holidays, includes traveling to various Washington County work locations, and is performed under limited supervision.
Minimum Qualifications- At least 18 years of age
- Certified to teach American Red Cross lifeguarding, first aid, waterfront lifeguarding, and CPR/AED
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license for County business
- Previous work experience with Washington County Parks
- Experience training lifeguards
- Experience working at a beach

Hours / DaysVaries, includes evening and weekend hours. Work schedules and location are subject to change based on department needs.
Anticipated Rate of Pay$20.88 - $22.50 Hourly

- Coordinate the work of other seasonal employees; prepare schedules, provide training, assign tasks, review work performed, prioritize work and help complete end of season employee evaluations
- Serve as the primary contact at the beach as assigned
- Respond to park visitor inquiries and conflicts
- Perform weekly lifeguard in-service trainings and other park staff training of CPR and AED
- Monitor cleanliness of the beach
- Monitor supply levels and prepare supply requests as needed
- May assist with beach opening and closing
- Perform other duties as assigned
Work is performed at County parks; primarily Lake Elmo Park Reserve, Big Marine Park Reserve, Point Douglas Park and Square Lake Regional Park. Work is performed both 10% inside and 90% outside. Work performed outside involves exposure to seasonal elements including heat, wind, humidity, sand, rain and cold water. Equipment used may include computers, cash drawers, Point of Sale software, and concession food‑service equipment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without help, on occasion.
