- Responsible for administration of nuclear imaging procedures, calculation, diagnostic, therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, and adjunctive medications using a variety of equipment and adhering to safety standards.
- Perform quality nuclear medicine imaging examinations with advanced technical knowledge and strong patient care.
- Carry out hot lab duties and perform nuclear medicine studies on inpatients and outpatients across all ages.
- Understand NRC rules and regulations, practice radiation safety, and operate cameras and equipment; process and send data to required destinations.
- Prepare, measure, and administer radiopharmaceuticals and therapeutics under physician direction; describe procedures to patients and answer questions.
- Implements radiation safety standards and quality assurance; monitor patient condition during imaging procedures.
- Collect patient information, analyze data, and provide quality images for physician diagnosis.
- May be cross-trained to perform PET/CT scans; have the ability to perform nuclear medicine procedures after orientation; support growth and development needs of diverse client populations.
- Demonstrate teamwork, professionalism, confidentiality, and openness to change and technology advancements.
- Must have completed an educational program and clinical experience accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or a formal AMA-accredited Nuclear Medicine program and be certified by CNMT or NMTBC.
- One year of experience as a staff radiologic technologist; or if a graduate of a formal Nuclear Medicine program, experience may not be required.
- Thorough understanding of diagnostic radiographic principles, including film processing, quality control, and radiation protection.
- Must be registered by ARRT or be a CNMT.
