Impact You’ll Make in this RoleAs an Advanced Product Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. The person hired for this position will support Home Care (Scotch-Brite) (part of Home Care, Auto & Workspace in Consumer Business Group) by leading the laboratory efforts to maintain and grow the retail home care business group.
- Owning product and process understanding for Scotch-Brite® Sponge and Scouring Products
- Working closely with cross‑functional teams, including Laboratory, Manufacturing, Business/Marketing, Supply Chain/Sourcing, Regulatory, and Quality to drive key Change Management Process (CMP) programs forward to improve quality, reduce cost, qualify alternate sources‑of‑supply and expand product offerings
- Verifying specifications, substantiating product claims, and documenting methods and results in the 3M Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system
- Supporting, as a team member, New Product Introductions (NPI) to drive qualification and scale‑up
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start)
- Two (2) years of experience in quality, manufacturing and/or product/process development in a private, public, government or military environment
- Current, valid Driver’s License.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Familiarity with statistical analysis tools (ex. Minitab, Design of Experiments)
- Experience working with non‑wovens, cellulose, foams or lamination technologies
- Experience leading cross‑functional teams
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong communication skills both verbal and written, analytical and organizational skills to manage different priorities
- Work location: This role follows an on‑site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
- Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
- Relocation: Is not authorized
