Controller, Accounting, Accounting Manager

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of a growing construction company. This role is responsible for overseeing day to day accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls while managing and developing the accounting team. The ideal candidate brings deep construction industry experience, a CPA credential, and strong leadership capability.

• Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, job costing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month end close
• Manage and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Ensure accurate job cost tracking, work in progress reporting, and percentage of completion accounting
• Monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow to support operational decision making
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies
• Coordinate year end audit and tax compliance activities with external auditors and tax advisors
• Work closely with project managers and operations leadership to support project level financial performance
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and industry best practices

• CPA is a plus but not mandatory
• Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience within the construction industry
• Proven experience managing and developing accounting staff
• Strong knowledge of job costing, work in progress schedules, and construction financial reporting
• Experience overseeing month end close and financial statement preparation

• Prior experience in a controller or senior accounting leadership role
• Experience supporting multiple active projects and field operations

• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability
• Clear and effective communication skills with both finance and operations teams
• Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
