New Graduate Nurse RN Residency

Overview

HCA Nurse Residency Program at Belton Regional Medical Center provides a year-long, paid program designed to help new graduate nurses transition from student to registered nurse, with hands-on experience, development of clinical and critical thinking skills, and mentorship from nurse educators and experienced nurses.

• Assess patient condition during admission and each shift; identify and report changes in patient status.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s); document care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Administer prescribed medications; monitor therapeutic response; notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
• Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests and proactively addressing patient needs.
• Educate patients, families and caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures; translate complex medical terminology as needed to ensure understanding.

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing completed prior to start date
• Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the State within 90 days of graduation date per state guidelines
• No previous experience required
