Overview
HCA Nurse Residency Program at Belton Regional Medical Center provides a year-long, paid program designed to help new graduate nurses transition from student to registered nurse, with hands-on experience, development of clinical and critical thinking skills, and mentorship from nurse educators and experienced nurses.
Responsibilities- Assess patient condition during admission and each shift; identify and report changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s); document care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Administer prescribed medications; monitor therapeutic response; notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
- Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests and proactively addressing patient needs.
- Educate patients, families and caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures; translate complex medical terminology as needed to ensure understanding.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing completed prior to start date
- Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the State within 90 days of graduation date per state guidelines
- No previous experience required

Belton Regional Medical Center is an 80+ bed acute care facility located in Belton, serving southern Jackson and northern Cass counties. It is part of the HCA Midwest Health System and offers inpatient and outpatient services, supported by colleagues, technology, and community relationships.
