Summary of Job

The City of Beloit has an exciting employment opportunity in the Public Works Department as an Equipment Operator-Excavation. This position works in the Water Resources Division of the Public Works Department.

The Equipment Operator-Excavator is responsible for the repair and maintenance of the public water supply distribution system, sanitary sewer system and storm sewer system. This position also performs routine maintenance and troubleshooting of the equipment used for their job duties. This position will also assist other work groups with excavation type activities as assigned. Will be subject to an on-call duty schedule for off-hours water resources infrastructure emergencies, including a maximum average response time.

Compensation: $25.00/hour plus a $40.00 daily stipend for on-call shifts. Please note that regular on-call availability is a requirement for this role.
Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma or equivalent.

A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the ability to obtain such CDL within six (6) months of hire.

One year of responsible work experience using heavy equipment in the area of construction or public/private utility work. Experience with public water systems is preferred.

Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of these positions will also be considered.
