The Security Guard is responsible for conducting interior and exterior patrols of the hospital while maintaining visibility to staff, patients, and visitors; protection of personal and hospital property from theft and vandalism; responding to and maintaining control in difficult situations; and assisting other departments as necessary.
- Use of proper grammar, spelling to provide professional and logical daily report writing of shift log of events.
- Conduct interior and exterior patrols.
- Maintain awareness and ability to recognize safety and security discrepancies.
- Locks specified doors at specific times. Unlocks doors for staff in their work areas.
- Responds calmly and promptly to phone calls, fire, and security alerts.
- Maintains calm and positive demeaner in crisis situations.
- Provides escorts to or from staff vehicles, as requested.
- Assist other departments with items such as snow removal from sidewalks and salting where needed.
- Checking mechanical rooms for unusual sounds, smells, and spills coming from building equipment.
- Ensures wheelchair storage areas have an adequate supply for patient use.
- Accurately inventories and stores patient personal property.
- Assists with proper intake and release of the deceased.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Current CPR certification or ability to obtain within first 3 months of hire.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
- Obtain CPI non-violent de-escalation Blue Card within first 3 months of hire. Must be able to organize and prioritize multiple demands.
- Maintain ethical conduct and keep confidential personal and medical information about patients.
- Adhere to established hospital and department policies and procedures, rules, and regulations.
