Registered Nurse- Medical Outpatient

Beloit Health System is hiring a Per Diem Registered Nurse to join our Medical Outpatient Department located at Beloit Clinic.

The Registered Nurse in Medical Outpatient will safely and effectively administer intravenous medications, fluids, and blood products and observe and document patients' responses to infusion therapy, noting any adverse reactions.

• Start IV lines and manage central lines, ensuring proper placement and maintenance, educate patients and families about infusion therapy including purpose, procedure, potential side effects, compliance with infection control protocols and maintenance of equipment.
• Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Conduct thorough assessments of wounds to determine appropriate treatment plan and select and apply dressings and topical treatments to promote healing and prevent infection, regularly evaluate healing process and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of wound assessments, treatments and patient outcomes.
• Provide instructions to patients on wound care management, including hygiene practices and signs of infection.
• Effectively set goals and priorities for provision of care to a group of patients according to acuity.
• Ensure patient safety while handling, transporting and providing medications to patients; protect patients from hazards, falls, disease exposure, etc.
• Demonstrate ability to perform functions accurately and efficiently with computer software application appropriate to position.

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing
• ADN, Diploma, BSN, or MSN degree acceptable.
• State of Wisconsin nursing licensure, compact license or temporary permit required. (If a compact license, application for a State of Wisconsin nursing license must be initiated in no more than 30 days from start date).
• Must be CPR certified within 3 months of hire.
• Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply proper procedures to Beloit Health System policies.
• Employee possesses the training, knowledge, and skills necessary to perform evaluation, treatment and patient care activities for patients in one or more of the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
• Successful completion of pre-placement physical examination.
• Involves physical effort that includes full range of body motion, standing, walking for extensive periods, assisted lifting patients up to 25 pounds, pushing transport carts ranging in weight of 50-200 pounds.
• Required to have manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires seeing and hearing at a level sufficient to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Requires working in sometimes stressful conditions or irregular hours.
• Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
