Job Title: Non Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor of Education

Salary: $71,237 - $107,332
Notre Dame de Namur University is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Education housed in the NDNU School of Education (SOE). The successful candidate will teach graduate level and credential courses in the School of Education, develop and implement curriculum, and advise students while contributing to the department's research and service mission. Responsibilities include teaching, mentoring, and assessing student learning outcomes, as well as participating in departmental and university-wide service and scholarly activities.
This is a 32-unit (12-month) non-tenure-track faculty position.
- Fulfill faculty responsibilities, including active use of NDNU’s Learning Management System (Canvas) and teach courses in multiple modalities, including hybrid and fully online (synchronous and/or asynchronous).
- Attend University and faculty meetings and events, as appropriate.
- Develop and implement curriculum initiatives, which may include:
Contribute to the redesigning of our Master’s degree programs. Contribute to the development of an EdD program. Contribute to the development and implementation of a Liberal Arts degree completion - Contribute to professional and curriculum development in our initiative of integrating Social Emotional and Cultural Competencies in teacher education.
- Collaborate with faculty and stakeholders.
- If appointed as Program Director:
Provide administrative leadership for Credential, graduate degree and/or Liberal Arts degree completion program(s). Oversee and manage the CTC-sponsored Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA), including ongoing communications with appropriate CTC staff, as well as guidance policy with credential, faculty, and teacher candidates. Recruit, admit, and advise students, including creating program plans, reviewing student transcripts, and assisting graduates with licensure and job applications.
Collaborate with marketing and admissions to promote programs. Keep abreast of trends in related fields for the purpose of working with faculty to review, evaluate, and update existing courses as well as identify and develop new courses to ensure currency of programs. Meet regularly with faculty to: review/evaluate the program, evaluate student progress toward program completion, and identify professional development opportunities for faculty to remain current in their fields.
Work with SOE staff to identify and implement MOUs/agreements with schools, LEAs, agencies, and non-profits as needed. Oversee program budget as needed and collaborate with School of Education Dean. Collaborate with School of Education and Academic Success Center (ASC) to identify and orders materials, databases, etc. appropriate to each program, to be housed in the SOE and/or ASC. Meet regularly with appropriate Advisory Boards and represent such programs regionally and nationally.
- Possess valid clear California teaching credential.
- Demonstrated experience recruiting, admitting, advising, and teaching a diverse population of traditional and non-traditional adult students.
- Demonstrated experience working with faculty to design, collect, analyze, and use data to assess program effectiveness, then identify and implement program improvement(s), including revision of curriculum, course syllabi, and program assessments.
- Expertise developing and teaching courses at the graduate level: in-person, hybrid, and online, both synchronous and asynchronous. Experience using Canvas preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working in a leadership/administration position in K-12 education, non-profit, business, or higher education.
- Ability to attend meetings/recruitment sessions/etc. during the day and evenings.
