With manufacturing sites across the US, UK, Germany and Denmark, LGC Biosearch Technologies has plans to continue growing. We deliver mission critical genomics to our diverse customer base in molecular diagnostics, pharma/biotech and agrigenomics. Our integrated portfolio of products, services and expertise supports our purpose of Science for a Safer World and we have embodied our mission by working with customers to enable research into life‑altering treatment for disease and illness worldwide.
We are currently seeking candidates who are up for the challenge of operating in a high‑growth, purpose‑driven organisation.
The role of Senior Chemist II requires skills in both practical and theoretical synthetic organic chemistry. The role is primarily laboratory based, conducting syntheses on existing products and devising and implementing syntheses for new products. A particular focus is driving improvement to our existing procedures with a view to maximising yields, increasing reproducibility, scaling and reducing manufacturing costs.
Key Responsibilities- Completion of scheduled work is on time (as per Chemistry Schedule), within budget (as per batch cost) and within specification
- Right first time (rework reduction, RFT)
- On‑Time Delivery in Full (OTIF)
- Underlying chemical and physical principles of chemical and analytical procedures are understood prior to commencing assigned work
- All reactions are monitored effectively to avoid work‑up of incomplete reactions
- All batch failures (yield, specification, reprocessing) and unexpected results are reported immediately to the Chemistry Manager
- Opportunities for improving chemical procedure are identified and communicated
- Custom synthesis/NPI projects (including design of synthetic routes, improvement of existing routes, syntheses, troubleshooting and optimisation of problematic steps) are efficiently and effectively completed.
- Contributions are made to writing and revising of documented procedures
- Records of work are complete and accurate.
- Responsibility for specified area of the business
- An ability to plan and manage CI (continuous improvement) projects
