Job  | Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Export Control:
This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. Citizen in order to comply with U.S. government-imposed requirements related to the nature of the work and/or where it will be performed.

Amazon Leo Intelligence Data Services (KIDS) team is seeking a Software Development Engineer who will design and build innovative self-service applications and automation tools for Data Hive, our enterprise-grade data platform for Leo Production Operations and beyond. In this role, you'll be responsible for developing user-facing applications that enable data producers and consumers across the organization to seamlessly interact with our centralized data infrastructure.

You'll build web portals, data catalogs, automation frameworks, and integrations that make data discovery, classification, quality monitoring, and consumption intuitive and efficient.

Key job responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack web applications and portals that serve as the primary user interface for Data Hive, our centralized data platform
  • Build self-service tools and automation frameworks that enable data producers to tag datasets with security classifications, export controls, and metadata
  • Develop interactive data catalog and data dictionary features with advanced search, filtering, and discovery capabilities
  • Architect and implement APIs and backend services to support data vending, bring-your-own-table functionality, and third-party integrations
  • Integrate GenAI capabilities including chatbots and AI-powered assistants, and build user interfaces for ML model access
  • Collaborate with software engineers and data engineers to design services that bridge user applications with underlying data infrastructure
  • Implement authentication, authorization, and audit logging to ensure secure access and compliance with export control requirements
A day in the life

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you'll design and build features that empower Amazon Leo teams to leverage data effectively. Your day might include architecting a new data catalog search capability, implementing backend APIs that integrate with AWS services, or developing frontend components for data quality dashboards. You'll collaborate with cross-functional partners to gather requirements, participate in sprint planning, technical design reviews, and conduct code reviews.

You'll also work on integrating GenAI capabilities, troubleshooting production issues, and mentoring teammates on best practices for building scalable, user-friendly applications.

About the team

Amazon Leo Intelligence Data Services (KIDS) team owns Data Hive, a centralized data and analytics infrastructure that serves as the single source of truth, enabling teams to develop insights and analytics tools that drive Amazon Leo's satellite production operations. The platform enforces stringent data governance with tagging and access controls, enhancing data discoverability and security.
