Pet Smart’s Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences and upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role also shares responsibility of store cleanliness and maintenance, and pet safety standards as well as the direct care of pets within our store.

• Engage with pet parents in person, over the phone, at the register, and online to ensure a positive experience.
• Greet pet parents and answer their questions throughout the store.
• Prepare online orders for in-store pickup, ensuring a smooth experience.
• Care for store-owned pets, including feeding, watering, and cleaning habitats.
• Maintain store cleanliness standards.
• Assist with weekly price changes and promotional pricing.
• Stage and sort new products to match sales plans.
• Stock and recover products to meet sales standards.
• Recommend and sell merchandise, services, and live pets.
• Administer store-owned pet medications as directed by a veterinarian.
• Promote events like adoption weekends and charity events.
• Ensure a safe environment for staff, pets, and customers.
• Act immediately if a sick or injured pet is identified, including transportation to the vet.
• Assist in various store areas as needed.

• Follow all company policies and procedures.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexible schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.

• Stand, walk, climb ladders, and handle objects frequently; reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear.
• Lift up to 50 pounds regularly; team lift more than 100 pounds occasionally.
• Work may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet environments, pet hair, and noise.
• Handling live animals is common.
