Restaurant Shift Leader

Join the Potbelly Sandwich Works team as a Restaurant Shift Leader. Earn $19.00 to $23.00 per hour plus tips, based on skills and qualifications.

Potbelly has been serving great food and good vibes since 1977, with over 400 shops nationwide.

General Description

Leads and manages a shift by developing associates, executing outstanding product quality and customer service, building sales and controlling costs. Follows standard Potbelly operating policies and procedures.

FOCUS People
  • Lead associates on shifts, assigning tasks (cleaning, line duties, opening/closing duties) and providing feedback and training.
  • Support personnel policies, labor laws and safety procedures.
  • Execute all security procedures.
  • Transition into opening/closing duties.
Customers
  • Make customers happy.
  • Resolve customer complaints and issues.
  • Empower associates to ensure customers leave happy.
  • Execute and support all food safety requirements.
Sales
  • Lead associates to open, transition and close shifts without supervision.
  • Manage and organize line and delegate duties.
  • Uphold product quality standards.
  • Work the line as needed.
  • Meet back‑of‑the‑house procedural standards.
  • Promote sales through marketing plan execution.
Profits
  • Control food costs, labor, waste and cash on the shift.
  • Count drawers and follow proper daily cash handling procedures.
Essential Physical Functions
  • Work 40 hours a week, stand/walk 8‑9 hours per day.
  • Lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Perform frequent mobility for up to five hours.
  • Work in warm and cool environments, indoors (95%) and outdoors (5%).
  • Tolerate noise, allergens (peanut, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, shellfish).
  • Coordinate schedules, problem‑solve, maintain cleanliness, train employees and provide great customer service.
Experience, Education and Behaviors
  • Represent Potbelly Advantage and Values.
  • Minimum 1 year supervisory experience in restaurant or retail.
  • High School degree.
  • Work 2 opens and/or closes per week.
  • Food Safety Certification required.
  • Communicate in English (verbal and written).
