Bowling Equipment Technician

Summary

This position is Non‑appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the 92 Force Support Squadron, Bowling Center, Fairchild AFB, WA. The primary purpose of this position is to man the customer‑service desk and repair and maintain bowling‑facility equipment. This is a regular part‑time position; guaranteed 20 hours per week. Employees appointed to a regular Category position are eligible for Air Force NAF benefits.

Duties
  • Assist in performing minor maintenance on bowling equipment including auto pinsetters, ball return machines, speed cradles, automatic ball cleaners, hole bores, and lane maintenance machines.
  • Assist with cleaning and maintenance of bowling lanes, approaches, channels, pin decks, kickbacks, scoring tables and ball returns.
  • Assist with maintenance of inventory records for bowling‑facility supplies, equipment and parts.
  • Operate cash register, collect money, make change and issue receipts.
  • Demonstrate and instruct participants on proper use of equipment and provide guidance on bowling techniques.
  • Open and close the bowling facility as required.
  • Perform other related work as assigned.
Requirements
  • Complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • Pass a pre‑employment physical.
Qualifications

Advancement is open to everyone. Applicants will be categorized by preference(s) and/or priority consideration eligibilities. Eligibility is determined by the questionnaire and proof must be provided by the closing date.

Experience includes paid, unpaid, and volunteer work such as National Service programs.

  • Basic knowledge of minor mechanical and electrical systems and general maintenance and repair work.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of bowling center operations.
  • Physical ability to frequently lift and carry parts up to 40 lb and occasionally up to 100 lb, along with frequent bending, climbing, reaching, stooping, standing, and working in awkward positions. Must tolerate high noise levels.
