We are looking for an experienced tax professional to join our growing Tax team. The Senior Tax Accountant will be a key contributor to our global tax operations, gaining exposure to a wide variety of tax topics and will be involved in all aspects of Smartsheet’s federal, state and local tax compliance, reporting, and research.
Our Tax team owns Smartsheet’s global tax strategy, including the quarterly and annual income tax provision (ASC 740), federal and state compliance, and indirect tax reporting. In addition to managing complex filing cycles and global account reconciliations, the team navigates a variety of challenging tax technical topics.
You will report to our Director of Tax, who is based in the United States. Ideal candidates reside within the Pacific or Mountain time zones.
You Will- Assist with supporting work papers for federal, state, and local income tax returns and quarterly estimated payments
- Perform tax research for federal, state and local issues
- Preparation of account reconciliations and/or journal entries for tax related general ledger accounts
- Support tax controversy by preparing comprehensive responses to requests and serving as a point of contact for federal and state tax authorities regarding notices and audits
- Utilize technology tools to automate data collection and improve the efficiency of tax reporting workflows
- Manage tax depreciation for Federal and State jurisdictions, including performing detailed roll forwards, and calculating adjustments for tax provision and returns
- Assist with ad hoc tax projects and planning initiatives as required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
- 5+ years tax or accounting experience in public accounting or equivalent experience in a corporate tax department
- Proficient in Excel, Word and online research software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail oriented, analytical and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

US Base Salary Pay Range: $92,500 - $126,250 USD
