About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Test Technician / Electrical Engineer to support our Client's platform enabling and development efforts. This role involves a range of activities from board and platform buildup to schematic capture and layout, with a particular focus on rework and soldering of prototypes. The ideal candidate will have experience with Linux OS, fine pitch soldering, and high-speed board layout, with Altium experience being highly preferred.
What You'll Be Doing
- Platform Enabling & Bring up:
Lead the platform bring up process, including board/platform buildup, initial testing, and development. Ensure prototypes are operational and meet design specifications. - Schematic Capture & Layout:
Perform schematic capture and board layout tasks, with a preference for experience using Altium. Create and modify designs based on project requirements and feedback. - Board Rework & Soldering:
Execute fine pitch/SMT soldering, board-level rework, and reflow processes. Enabling prototypes through hands-on assembly and modification. - Firmware Updates:
Apply necessary firmware updates and modifications to prototypes to ensure proper functionality and performance. - Electronics Assembly:
Assemble non-form factor platforms, manage cabling, wiring, and development kits to support product development and testing. - Parts Library Management:
Maintain and create parts libraries - Linux OS
Experience:
Utilize command-line skills and Linux OS for various tasks related to firmware updates and system configurations.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electronics assembly, board bringup, schematic capture, and layout.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in fine pitch/SMT soldering, board-level rework, and reflow techniques. Experience with schematic capture and board layout, particularly using Altium.
- Experience with Linux OS and command-line tools.
- Experience maintaining or creating parts libraries, with knowledge of parts footprints, BOM linking, and schematic symbols.
- Familiarity with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors, including the ability to provide turnaround time estimates and manage rush orders.
- Experience with advanced PCB design tools and techniques.
- Experience with high-speed board routing.
- Ability to estimate project timelines and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to addressing design and testing challenges.
