Nature of Work:

The City of Port Angeles Public Works Department seeks a driven Civil Engineer with experience in transportation engineering. Under engineering supervision of the City Engineer performs engineering work involved in the preparation of working drawings, studies, environmental documents, plans, specifications, and estimates relating to the design of transportation projects such as street paving, chip seals, ADA curb ramps, stormwater, sidewalks, bike lanes and traffic signals.

Primary Job Duties
:

• Preparesstudies,construction plans,designs,specifications,and estimates.
• Preparesenvironmentaldocumentsandpermitapplicationsforprojects.
• Computesandcompilessurveydatafromfieldsurveynotes;corrects,updatesandextendscitymapping.
• Coordinates the collection and entry of traffic and accident data for traffic studies.
• Inspects Public Works projects for conformance with project plans and specifications. Verifies contract pay quantities.
• Preparesandmaintainsvariousfilesandrecordsconcerningpublicworksprojects.
• Responds to public requests for information and complaints concerning utilities, traffic and public works policies and procedures.

Range A30 at $46.077 - $55.017 per hour ($95,840.16 - $ annually)

Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, mechanical, water resource engineering or related engineering discipline is required; OR,anequivalentcombinationofeducation,training, andexperiencewhichprovidesthenecessaryknowledge, skills, abilities and other competencies necessary for success in the target position.
• Possession of an Engineering-in-Training certificate or Professional Engineer license from the State of Washington is highly desired.
