Job Title:
Controls Engineer
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Controls Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and extensive experience in designing, developing, and implementing control systems. This role requires hands-on experience with CODESYS or equivalent platforms and a solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles in industrial automation.
Responsibilities- Design and develop control system architectures using the CODESYS platform.
- Implement object-oriented programming principles in industrial automation systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system specifications and requirements.
- Ensure code quality through comprehensive reviews and standardization processes.
- Lead technical design reviews for control systems and simulations.
- Coordinate with global design teams and vendors.
- Drive process improvements and technical implementation.
- Review and integrate new material handling equipment (MHE) technologies.
- Write and troubleshoot PLC code and IPC-based code such as CODESYS.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and build prototypes.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience with CODESYS or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of Structured Text (ST) programming language.
- Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
- Good knowledge of control system design including system architecture.
- Experience with Linux-based Industrial PCs (IPCs).
- Understanding of safety-segregated control architecture.
- Proficiency in PLC development and logic implementation.
Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of Siemens automation platforms (TIA Portal, STEP
7) and Rockwell Automation systems (Studio 5000, Control Logix). - Familiarity with warehouse automation and logistics systems.
- Experience with code standardization and specification development.
- Preferred Master's degree in Electrical or Controls Systems Engineering or a related STEM field.
- Experience in technical leadership for large-scale industrial engineering projects.
- Operations Management/Distribution Center experience.
- Analytical and project management skills.
- Knowledge of functional safety standards IEC, ISO, or IEC.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products:
Excel, Project, and Outlook.
This role offers a hybrid work environment with flexibility to work remotely and onsite in the Seattle/Bellevue market. The position involves 20-25% travel, mainly around the Pacific Northwest, with occasional travel for factory acceptance testing. Candidates can also be based in Atlanta, Nashville, or Atlanta. You will work closely with controls vendors, design new and retrofit PLC systems, and handle all aspects of PLC's within a delivery station setting, including safety switches, PLC logics, controls specifications, and vendor electrical drawings.

This is a Contract position based out of Bellevue, WA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
