The Senior Mechanical Power Engineer will join HDR’s national Power Generation team to lead mechanical engineering on natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects, serving as Engineer of Record or Owner's Engineer.

- Lead the project mechanical team and coordinate with other engineering disciplines; monitor project status and communicate progress; provide mechanical engineering support for detailed design and Owner's Engineer projects on both technical and contractual levels.
- Project roles will typically include lead mechanical engineer and project engineering manager; may include project manager, with collaboration across multiple disciplines.
- Deliverables typically include construction drawings, bid specifications, mechanical equipment sizing calculations, technical memos, bid evaluations, code reviews, feasibility studies, reports, and cost estimates.
- Significant experience with design and specification of power generation systems for simple cycle, combined cycle, distributed generation, and RICE projects is preferred.
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in power generation design.
- Gas turbine, steam turbine and/or large reciprocating engine experience or subject matter expertise.
- Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation.
- Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm desirable.
- Minimum 10 years of experience, ideally in the fossil power industry with a blend of design and Owner's Engineer projects.
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Willing to mentor less experienced engineers and EITs.
- Proficient at working within an established schedule and budget.
- Less than 10% travel for client meetings and project site visits.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of experience.
- Professional Engineers (PE or P.Eng) license.
- Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Auto Pipe, and Revit).

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
(Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) The targeted salary range for this position (based on experience and location) is $108,661 - $204,250.
