The Organ Procurement Trainer works closely with clinical staff,department leadership,and the Organ Procurement Optimization Training team(Training team) to increase organ donation andoptimizeorgan utilizationthrougheffective onboarding and ongoing education of ODS staff. The Organ Procurement Trainer is responsible for delivering high quality training and education to Organ Recovery Coordinators (ORCs) and Organ Donation Coordinators (ODCs) (designated roles). This role serves as one of the principal resourcesfororgan donation relatedclinical education in the organization.
ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS
- Clinical Training: In collaboration with the Training team, assists in the delivery and implementation of effective and timely onboarding for the designated roles. Training follows current regulatory guidelines and compliance standards and remains focused on strategic and organizational goals. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of clinical guidelines and practices.
- Outcome:
Completes training functions and collaborates with leadership, Learning and Development, and distributed trainers to create efficiency and consistency with other onboarding programs. - Assessment:
Facilitates instructor-led clinical training in person, virtually, and onsite during case activity. Provides input on modifications for onboarding processes. - Intervention:
Leads in delivery and maintenance of training that is effective and in line with current practices, standards, and policies.

- Assists in tracking the progress of designated roles during onboarding to ensure a timely and effective orientation.

Communicates and documents the progress of designated roles during onboarding including completion of assignments and adequate clinical experiences. - Assessment:
Accurately keeps records of orientees, guides process and collaborates with department leadership and preceptors to manage schedules and orientee assignments. Assesses the needs of orientees and adapts training appropriately. - Intervention:
Assists in the onboarding process in collaboration with department leadership, Training team, preceptors and other stakeholders. Provides education, clinical expertise, guidance, and support to clinical staff onsite, in group settings and on a 1:1 basis.
- Outcome:
- Works directly with designated roles onsite and during simulations to assess knowledge, ability and progress toward core competency signoffs and independent job functions.
- Outcome:
Signs off designated roles in a timely and efficient manner and identifies when they can independently function in their roles. - Assessment:
Assesses orientees directly onsite and/or during simulation and gathers feedback from preceptors and other appropriate staff members. - Intervention:
Collaborates with Training team, department leadership, preceptors and other clinical staff to ensure timely feedback is being given and training needs are being met through direct observation and assessment.

- Provides guidance to preceptors to achieve and maintain standardized training processes and curriculum.

In collaboration with OOE, observes and coach’s preceptors to verify established standards are taught and followed in the field. - Assessment:
Suggests and assists improvement initiatives related to the Preceptor Program. - Intervention:
Collaborates with stakeholders to identify needs for development and improvement, assists in coaching and mentoring preceptors, and keeps up to date resources and tools for preceptors to utilize.

- Ongoing Training: Collaborates with the Training team to advance the procurement training program.
- Assists with development of clinical training courses that align with strategic and organizational goals.

Updates and assists in the building of procurement training courses. - Assessment:
Identifies content requiring updating or development and demonstrates initiative to make the needed changes. - Intervention:
Updates and develops simulated training as needed using various modalities in collaboration with the Clinical Simulation Educator (CSE) and Training team.

- Collaborates with stakeholders to provide foundational skills and ongoing education.

Participates in clinical skills day planning and facilitation. Leads simulations and conducts onsite evaluation for core competency reviews. - Assessment:
Executes ongoing training and evaluation with designated roles through onsite evaluation, simulation and didactic training. - Intervention:
Contributes to work groups focused on ongoing educational needs of designated roles.

- Assists with development of clinical training courses that align with strategic and organizational goals.
