Akron is seeking a Drafting and Estimating Officer to support our growing project pipeline.

The role is ideal for someone who can produce accurate drafting documentation while also contributing to the estimating and pre-construction process through take offs and cost estimates.

Working closely with the wider project team in a full-time permanent capacity, you will help ensure project documentation and costings are clear, accurate, and aligned with Akron’s standards for quality and commercial performance.

This is a hands-on role suited for someone who enjoys variety and values working with precision.

• Preparing accurate drafting and documentation packages for commercial, industrial, and residential construction projects.
• Producing drawings, layouts, and design documentation to support internal delivery teams and external contractors.
• Estimation and Tender preparation, including material take-offs and quantity calculations.
• Reviewing drawings to identify discrepancies and scope gaps early.
• Supporting the pricing of variations and project changes where required.
• Liaising with site supervisors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain pricing and technical information.
• Ensuring all projects align with Australian Standards and client requirements.
• Maintaining organised project records, drawings, and estimating documentation for internal use.
• Contributing to continuous improvement of Akron’s internal processes.

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD
• Competent in Microsoft Office – especially Excel
• Experience with Archi
  
  CAD is advantageous
• Have proven experience in drafting within a commercial, industrial or residential setting.
• Have proven experience preparing cost estimates, completing material take-offs, and supporting tender submissions for construction projects.
• Enjoy working across both technical design and estimating and can confidently switch between both.
• Have a strong understanding of construction methods and materials.
• Take ownership of your work and are proactive in problem-solving.
