Position Summary

Novogradac & Company LLP seeks a Tax Manager to join our fast‑growing firm. As a Tax Manager, you will manage tax assignments delegated by Principals or Partners. You will work independently, while supervising and mentoring Staff and Senior Accountants, solving tax problems, strengthening client relationships, and driving office profitability. Contributions and Responsibilities
  • Assume primary responsibility for client engagements, including planning, staffing, timing, and technical decisions.
  • Oversee engagement completion, identify and resolve problem areas, and provide minimal oversight.
  • Conduct thorough engagement reviews.
  • Supervise and mentor Supervisors, Senior Accountants and Staff, guiding them in technical areas and professional development.
  • Complete annual performance evaluations and manage employee performance conversations.
  • Assist Principals and Partners in identifying, meeting with, and pursuing new clients.
  • Leverage technical knowledge to create high‑value opportunities for firm clients.
  • Promote the firm’s image by participating in conference panels, contributing to publications, attending recruiting events, and conducting in‑house and client trainings.
  • Build and grow client relationships through professionalism, responsiveness, and a service‑oriented approach.
  • Continue skill development through industry training courses.
  • Increase office profitability by managing your time and that of staff efficiently.
  • Take on additional duties and projects as assigned.
Your Background and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting or finance (advanced degree is a plus); 3–7+ years of public accounting experience.
  • Required CPA license.
  • Expert understanding of accounting and tax rules.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and sound judgment.
  • Accurate, time‑efficient work with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and follow‑through skills.
  • Ability to prioritize a fast‑paced, varied workload.
  • Welcomes constructive feedback and adapts accordingly.
  • Collaborative, team‑oriented mindset.
  • Strong computer skills, especially Excel, and report‑writing tools.
  • Professional demeanor with coworkers and clients.
  • Earns confidence of the Partner group.
  • Meeting internal firm deadlines (time entry, billing, etc.).
  • Flexible to work evenings and weekends as needed and travel domestically.
