General Purpose

As Area Supervisor, you will lead a specific store area, perform general store operations, and act as Manager on Duty when needed. Responsibilities include opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a welcoming environment, ensuring merchandise presentation, and executing operational processes.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Prioritize safety; practice safe behaviors in all activities.
  • Maintain awareness of the sales floor, correct or report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Secure building entry/exit, handle electronic article surveillance, cash office, and armored carrier pick‑ups.
  • Ensure safe egress by removing clutter and keeping emergency exits clear.
  • Manage customer safety, accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
  • Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treat customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
  • Display courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize associates through company programs.
Personal And Store Brand
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Maintain professional appearance per dress code; enforce dress code for associates.
  • Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards.
  • Receive merchandise trucks and non‑merchandise deliveries.
  • Process merchandise with urgency and maintain stockroom organization.
  • Place merchandised items on the sales floor; secure and process back‑stock.
  • Facilitate floor moves, promotional sign‑ups, and re‑wraps.
Loss Prevention
  • Comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a strong customer service presence.
  • Demonstrate integrity, safeguard confidential information, and secure merchandise.
  • Maintain the Public View Monitor system.
  • Conduct “Code 50” package inspections.
  • Execute company best practices to maximize productivity.
Front End Supervision And Operations
  • Direct associates to meet front‑end standards.
  • Manage line pace and presence to minimize wait times.
  • Train and coach cash register procedures and shortage control.
  • Control associate break schedules and equipment.
  • Ensure proper supplies, recovery, and security tags.
  • Teach the “Scan and Bag” best practice.
  • Maintain merchandise salability on the front end and specialty racks.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintain fitting room cleanliness and equipment.
  • Audit garment tags per company policy.
  • Ensure compliance with go‑back procedures.
Administrative Duties As Assigned By Store Manager
  • Conduct cash pulls and bank deposits.
  • Manage front‑end controls and approvals.
  • Administer payroll, scheduling, and compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations common in retail.
  • Work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Use all store equipment, including PDTs and registers.
  • Stand, walk, and move around the store for the entirety of the shift.
  • Regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lb.
