The Recovery Specialist will assist individuals with a substance‑use disorder by serving as a role model, advocate, and motivator. Through lived experience, the specialist provides non‑clinical individual and group support to develop a recovery care plan, educate on recovery models, and cultivate tools to enhance recovery. The role works closely with the multidisciplinary care team and community‑based organizations to connect patients with additional services that best fit their needs.
Qualifications- Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Required: A minimum of four (4) years of experience in recovery principles to help individuals improve health and wellness, live a self‑directed life, and reach full potential
- Required: Ability to travel within a 60‑mile radius of the assigned hospital for cross coverage when needed
- Preferred: Bilingual a plus
- Preferred: Previous experience as a Recovery Specialist or related position
- Preferred: Strong organizational and communication skills; computer skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook
- Nationally Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) certification through NAADAC required at hire or must be obtained within 6 months of employment

- Full‑Time
- Engage clients to provide non‑clinical assistance and recovery support through genuine connections and shared real‑life experiences
- Conduct client screening, input data into the electronic health record system per IFPR documentation guidelines
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation, complete follow‑ups, and provide reporting data for grant compliance
- Create individualized recovery support plans based on screening and social determinants of health; connect clients with non‑clinical SDOH services
- Maintain supportive relationships with clients and families, serve as a positive role model, and share experiential knowledge, hope, and skills
- Educate individuals on navigating treatment, social services, and recovery support systems; collaborate with IFPR Patient Navigator and hospital staff
- Empower individuals to make self‑determined and self‑directed recovery choices
- Implement and facilitate recovery support meetings and groups to engage, motivate, and empower participants
- Perform other duties as assigned
