Position Summary

Provides support to the Transportation Manager/Director in supervising delivery and backhaul activities, including training and supervising transportation department associates, ensuring compliance with government regulations, and promoting safety and security. This traveling supervisor oversees our domicile locations in Channahon, IL;
Belleville, IL; and Indianapolis, and will work some day shifts and night shifts.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities
  • Supervises the daily work and safety of Transportation Associates, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures, food safety standards, and preferred work methods.
  • Ensures Transportation Associates comply with local, state, and federal regulations (DOT, OSHA, etc.) and that electronic logs are current and accurate.
  • Supervises labor hours and consumable supplies within budget; prepares work schedules including extraתם weekend shifts as needed.
  • Assists with the training of new associates and cross‑training of existing associates.
  • Supervises proper selection and utilization of company assets and coordinates required repairs.
  • Reviews delivery functions and productivity reporting; suggests efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures and assists with implementation of delivery changes.
  • Interprets, trains and enforces company policies, protocols and procedures, including food safety, DOT, record keeping, etc.
  • Communicates with Warehouse and Customer Service teams to resolve customer or delivery issues; visits customer locations to address challenges and assess delivery difficulty.
  • Maintains positive associate relations through regular department meetings and open communication channels.
  • Works with Safety Manager to aid in training, accident investigations, safety inspections, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Performs management functions of staff selection, development, discipline, performance reviews, and terminations.
  • Works assigned schedule, exhibits predictable attendance and may work outside normal schedule to meet workload demands.
Required

Minimum Education / Experience
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; two to four years of transportation experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two‑ or four‑year college degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or a similar major is preferred.
Certifications And/Or Technical Requirements
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License is preferred but not required.
  • Certificate of DOT regulations training is preferred.
Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, DOT rules, preferred work methods, SOPs, spreadsheet and word‑processing software.
  • Skill in making independent decisions to support company policies and procedures in a timely manner.
  • Ability to engage and lead team discussions and meetings, solve practical problems, interpret instructions, apply policies consistently, follow procedures, manage stress, learn SYGMA technology, and communicate effectively in English.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear; frequently required to stand, walk, bend, use hands; occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift and move up to 100 lbs, push/pull up to 350 lbs with a 2‑wheeled cart.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
  • leh has exposure to wet, hot, extreme cold humid conditions, mechanical parts, confined spaces, and non‑traditional business hours including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call periods.
  • May occasionally travel to other Distribution Centers or the Corporate office for training or meetings.
  • May be exposed to high or precarious places and airborne particulates; noise level is usually moderate.
