GENERAL
SUMMARY:
THE BAHS PLACEMENT ASSOCIATE’S role is to provide a positive and comprehensive experience for community members and animals in the care of BAHS. This role includes assisting the placement team with adoption and foster placements, daily engagement with the public to help them find a compatible shelter pet for adoption, coordinating and facilitating placement of animals at off campus retail locations and assisting with adoption events at off campus retail locations.
HOURS:Thursdays-Saturdays 9:30am-5pm, Sundays 9:30-3pm.
SUPERVISOR:Placement Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:- High school diploma
- 2-years of customer service
- 2-years animal care experience
- Must be computer proficient and able to learn shelter softwares
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate company vehicles.

- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Natural sales abilities
- Highly organized, motivated, and detail-oriented li>Able to set priorities
- Work well in a team environment with the public, co-workers, and volunteers
- Demonstrate emotional maturity and good judgment
- Knowledge of animal breeds and behavior
- Committed to the mission, values, and goals of the Belleville Area Humane Society
- Flexible and willing to help with jobs outside of this job description
- Physical ability to navigate kennels and cages required
- Must be able to handle large animals
- Allergies that are aggravated by animals or cleaning supplies may be a disqualification
- Must be able to stand, kneel, walk for up to 8 hours per day
- Serve with the Placement Manager and Placement Team to effectively navigate animals through the shelter system from intake to adoption.
- Data entry, adoption paperwork, and payment processing into the shelter software system.
- Provide quality customer service while assisting with animal adoption processes.
- Greet customers as they come into the shelter and provide any necessary assistance.
- Educate customers and the public about animal care, behavior, and training.
- Assist with animal socialization and enrichment.
- Engage closely with the public to help them find a compatible shelter pet for adoption.
- Assist the Placement Manager with finding foster parents for animals in care, coordinating and facilitating foster pick ups of animals.
- Follow BAHS protocols in assisting with cleaning of facilities, laundry, dishes, and animal care and feeding as needed.
- Work with the medical department and placement team to coordinate what animals are eligible to send to retailer locations and transport appropriate animals to the locations.
- Assist with the coordination and facilitation of adoption events at off campus retailer locations.
