Position: EMS Student- February 2026 Class

EMT STUDENT – Earn While You Learn Program

Location: Belleville, IL

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Program Start Dates: Orientation:
February 23rd, 2026
Class starts:
March 2nd, 2026

Job Overview

Develop the skills necessary for an accelerated transition into EMS by attending our Earn While You Learn Program which will prepare you to work aboard BLS, ALS, and CCT units. This opportunity will help you earn while you learn, giving you a practical foundation and the chance to apply classroom knowledge in real-world scenarios.

Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have a valid Driver's License in good standing
  • Have the ability to meet all health standards of the education program enrolled in, including immunization status and health screenings
  • Successfully complete the pre-employment screening which includes Criminal Background checks, drug testing, academic/cognitive screening, and a Physical Ability Test (PAT)
Responsibilities
  • Follow and maintain thorough familiarity with evolving medical treatment protocols, response requirements, quality assurance procedures, local Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and other company policies.
  • Operate company vehicles in accordance with risk & safety policies and traffic laws governing emergency response vehicles.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation of patient assessment and treatment, including statistical and billing information and services rendered.
  • Read medication/prescription labels and directions for usage in a quick, accurate, and expedient manner.
  • Communicate effectively with empathy and compassion to patients, family members, bystanders, other service agency members, and facility staff.
  • Discern deviations or changes in eye/skin coloration due to a patient’s condition and to the treatment given.
  • Converses with Dispatch, facility staff, and other responders via phone or radio regarding the status of a patient.
