The Role

Supporting and working alongside the members of the Canadian Armed Forces and actively preparing them to defend and serve our country could be your path to an extremely fulfilling career. As the Physical Exercise Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work with a very highly motivated and professional clientele who are eager to return to duty and improve their condition.

Daily, you will lead reconditioning programs for Canadian Armed Forces members who may be affected with a medical condition and improve their functional abilities related to their physical limitations. Being a subject matter expert in your field, you will support your local team with training and professional development. You will assist Health Promotion partners promoting healthy practices and injury prevention through initiatives such as educational programs, special events and other activities related to physical fitness.

Other stakeholders will be at your disposal to ensure a client’s successful return to duty.

Responsibilities
  • Lead reconditioning programs for Canadian Armed Forces members who may be affected by medical conditions to improve functional abilities related to their physical limitations.
  • Support the local team with training and professional development; assist Health Promotion partners promoting healthy practices and injury prevention through educational programs, special events and other activities related to physical fitness.
  • Deliver programs and services in collaboration with a professional team of health services practitioners; work with other stakeholders to ensure a client’s successful return to duty.
Qualifications

Education, Certifications and Licenses

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Human Kinetics, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences or in a related field
  • Current Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) certification
  • Current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications
  • Current National Lifeguard Service Certificate (NLS) qualification

Experience

  • In developing, implementing and delivering physical fitness programs
  • In preparing and conducting physical fitness training sessions
  • In communications for professional and public audiences
  • In the delivery of adult education and facilitation of workshops
  • In applying policies, procedures, and regulations

Competencies

  • Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership

Language Requirements

  • English Essential
