Position: Elevator Operator (Belle Fourche)

Dakota Mill and Grain, Inc. is seeking candidates to join our dynamic team. This team is essential in the day-to-day operations of our grain elevator facility, ensuring the efficient handling and processing of various agricultural commodities.

We are looking for full-time and part-time workers! On-the-job training provided!

Responsibilities:
  • Load and unload products from trucks and railcars.
  • Weigh and grade incoming and outgoing grain shipments accurately, ensuring compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Monitor grain storage conditions and make appropriate adjustments to maintain optimal grain quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of grain transactions and inventory.
  • Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the grain elevator facility.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and report any malfunctions or repairs needed.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, regulations, and company policies.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to farmers, customers, and suppliers.
  • Unload incoming grain trucks and perform quality inspections to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Load grain into outbound trucks and railcars, efficiently optimizing storage space within the grain elevator.
  • Safely operate forklifts, skid steers, and other machinery to move and transport grain within the facility.
  • Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping tasks to keep the grain elevator clean, organized, and hazard-free.
Qualifications:
  • Successfully pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and physical.
  • High school diploma/GED preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally.
  • Prior experience in a grain elevator or agricultural setting is preferred, but not required. Willing to train!
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working at heights in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks with accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to operate grain handling equipment.
  • Commitment to safety and ability to follow safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, during peak harvest seasons.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to physically lift heavy materials (up to 50 pounds) frequently throughout the work shift with or without assistance.
  • Frequent walking, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Standing/working on feet for extended periods and walking across uneven terrain, climbing up and down ladders and stairways.
  • Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements, including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, etc.
  • Frequent exposure to noise and dust.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment and any other safety-related equipment.
