A Medical Imaging Fellow is an individual who has completed a primary Joint Review Committee Education Radiologic Technologists (JRCERT) or Joint Review Committee of Education Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRCDMS) program and is board certified. Medical Imaging Fellows enrolled in Computed Tomography (CT), Interventional Radiology, Mammography, Radiation Therapy or Nuclear Medicine must be approved/licensed by the state of Texas (Texas Medical Board).

Ultrasound Technologists are only eligible for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program. The Medical Imaging Fellow must be flexible to work 40 hours (to include weekends and holidays) a week of supervised clinical training which also include attending didactic classes. The role of the Medical Imaging Fellow involves learning to acquire high quality diagnostic imaging, ensuring patient safety and assisting with procedures under the guidance of experienced professionals.

The Medical Imaging Fellowship Program will provide the Fellows with the necessary skills and knowledge to operate in the advanced imaging specialized areas.

  a) ARRT (American Registry Radiologic Technology) in areas of Radiology(R), Nuclear Medicine (N), Radiation Therapy (T) (For CT, MRI, Mammography, Interventional Radiology Fellowship Programs. Must be licensed by Texas Medical Board)
• b) ARDMS (American Register of Diagnostic Medical Sonography for Sonographers who are interested in MRI. Sonographers are not allowed by law to operate ionizing radiation equipment. Therefore, Sonographers can only train in the area of MRI. (ARDMS specialty certification for example: (OB) (GYN), etc.)
