Position Summary
The Marketing and Special Events Assistant supports the City’s overall success by assisting with marketing initiatives, promotional activities, and special event coordination. This position plays an important role in enhancing community engagement through social media, website content, and promotional materials. The role also provides customer service and administrative support to ensure efficient department operations. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong organizational skills, effective communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Essential Functions
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies, including social media campaigns, to promote City programs, events, and activities.
Prepare, update, and distribute promotional materials across various platforms.
Maintain and update content on the City’s website.
Create and manage social media accounts, posts, and engagement strategies to increase community interaction.
Provide front desk support by greeting visitors, answering phones, and responding to questions and concerns.
Assist residents with program and event registrations.
Address and resolve complaints in a professional and timely manner.
Collect and process payments, prepare deposits, and maintain accurate financial records.
Draft, edit, and type correspondence, reports, and other documents.
Maintain organized filing systems and oversee record retention.
Manage office supplies and coordinate mail distribution.
Track expenditures and assist with invoice and purchase order processing.
Maintain staff calendars, timesheets, and leave records.
Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of special events.
Provide administrative and on-site support to department staff as needed.
Perform additional related duties as assigned to support department and City goals.
Education and Experience
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience is required.
- Supervisory
Experience:
