Program Aide - Home Delivered Meals Program

Under the supervision of the Senior Services Manager: organize, account for and maintain meal delivery route sheets, client in-home visits, data entry, phone calls, file, back-up for meal delivery to seniors on a set route and assists staff with various program duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Visit and conduct in-home assessments as mandated by our contract and all other paper work.
  • Maintain weekly and monthly statistical records.
  • Prepare monthly program reports and billings per contracts.
  • Maintain liaison with agency meal subcontractor.
  • Enter and retrieve data on network software/computer.
  • Assist staff with copying, faxing, and data input.
  • Assist staff with client activities, phone assessments, as required.
  • Back-up driver when drivers call out sick
  • Other duties, as required or assigned.
  • Working cell phone.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of office equipment, like computers, printers and fax machines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Word and MS Excel, in particular).
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
  • Accurately perform basic mathematical functions.
  • Possess a cheerful and friendly disposition.
  • Ability to: read and follow traffic signs and safety laws/guidelines while driving an agency vehicle.
  • Ability to: work and communicate effectively with elderly clients and volunteers of diverse cultures, read and follow food safety manual guidelines.
  • Preferred bilingual (English/Spanish)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED, preferred, but not required.
  • Experience:

    working with senior citizens, families, and/or children is desirable.
  • Experience:

    working in an office atmosphere handling basic office duties (i.e., filing, copying, light typing, etc.) 1- 2 years’ experience desirable.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

No licensing/certification requirements for this position.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasional driving is required. Must provide your own vehicle, valid California Driver’s License and proof of full insurance coverage.
  • Negative tuberculosis screening
  • We require the selected candidate to undergo a criminal background check using the Live Scan fingerprinting method in compliance with applicable laws and regulations

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job or that an employee encounters while performing the essential function of this job.

  • Work in moderate noise levels and non-smoking environment
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds independently
  • Frequently involves sitting, standing, walking, squatting, bending, and climbing stairs (as needed)
  • Occasionally may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must be able to speak and hear clearly to communicate effectively
  • Constantly operates a computer, keyboard, and other various office machinery
  • Majority of job duties are performed onsite; however, visits to different sites may be required

COMPENSATION:

In accordance with California law, the expected pay range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
