Position OverviewEmpire Trading Logistics, a leading provider of comprehensive logistics solutions in Belgium, is seeking a dynamic Freight Forwarding Specialist to join our team. Known for our commitment to delivering exceptional service, we specialize in a wide range of logistics services, including freight forwarding, customs clearance, and warehousing. As a Freight Forwarding Specialist, you will play a key role in managing and coordinating the international and domestic transportation of goods, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Arrange and manage international and domestic shipments by sea, air, and road.
- Schedule pick-ups and deliveries, ensuring timely and efficient transportation.
- Prepare and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and customs requirements.
- Manage and oversee the accurate filing of import/export documentation.
- Inform customers about shipment status and answer shipments-related questions.
- Identify any issues or discrepancies regarding shipments and resolve them.
- Identify and address issues such as delays, damages, or customs holds.
- Generate reports on shipment activities, costs, and performance metrics.
- Analyze logistics processes to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
- Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers and freight forwarders.
Bachelor’s degree, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain management.
- Proven experience with international shipping and customs regulations.
- Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain processes.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in freight forwarding software and MS Office Suite.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Fluent in English. Additional languages French and Dutch are a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, incoterms, and customs procedures.
- Familiarity with different modes of transportation and their documentation requirements.
