Description

We're looking for an innovative Media Analysis Lead with a unique combination of skills who wants to play a major role in tackling climate change. You’ll be joining our Media Monitoring and Analysis (MMA) group that supports communication practitioners by helping them monitor, analyse and intervene in conversations in traditional and social media. This is very much an applied research role: the focus is on delivering practical analysis and advice that informs real-world communications strategies.

MMA uses a variety of tools and data sources to monitor conversations where they happen, and supports communicators working on a variety of issues across six continents. This role reports into the Director of Impact & Evaluation and is ideal for someone who is passionate about the news but has a rigorous analytical background and data-oriented mindset. The role requires strong editorial and people skills, deployed in service of measuring what drives narrative and social change.

If this sounds like you, we'd love for you to apply.

How you'll contribute
  • Coordinate the MMA analysts currently distributed across Asia and Europe who compile coverage reports, analyse trends and prepare insight products for communications leads working in more than 40 countries globally.
  • Triage, prioritise, and allocate incoming analysis and reporting requests, balancing competing priorities, deadlines, and time zone demands.
  • Provide editorial review and quality control on analysis products to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency and usefulness for different audiences.
  • Pitch in directly with analysis and writing as needed, particularly during peak periods or for complex or high-profile requests.
  • Interface with local or thematic leads making analysis requests to clarify scope and expectations, manage delivery issues, and collect feedback on outputs.
  • Manage workload and workflow, ensuring skills, capacity, and wellbeing are balanced and used effectively across the portfolio.
  • Lead weekly calls, including work planning, prioritisation, delivery check-ins and reflective discussions.
  • Conduct periodic retrospectives to assess ways of working and implement improvements to workflows, tools, and collaboration practices.
  • Ensure the regular updating of case studies and examples to support organisational reporting, learning, and funder communications.
  • Identify new tools, analysis types and product offerings that can be provided based on user feedback.
  • Manage access to subscriptions and paid tools, including liaising with vendors on contracts, assigning accounts to users, and supporting management of the budget.
  • Plan and oversee training and skills development, with a focus on analytical quality, writing, and confidence working with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with the MEL technical roles to improve existing software tools and contribute to the development of new analysis products and systems.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned from time to time.
