Job Purpose
With a high degree of autonomy and within a team of Automation, Robotics, and Software experts dedicated to the management of Automation & Robotics systems in R&D laboratories, the Automation & Robotics Engineer will:
- Support the full life cycle of automated and robotic lab systems by fixing, documenting, and continuously improving them.
- Act as Technical Owner for robotics systems (liquid handlers, image analysis, labelling) ensuring full GxP lifecycle management.
- Develop, implement, and integrate automation solutions in liquid handling, image/video analysis, labelling and 3D printing.
- Apply software development, Dev Ops, agile methodologies and code refactoring to digital automation components.
- Perform technological watch on robotics, automation and software engineering domains.
- Manage development and implementation projects.
- Support, troubleshoot, fix and improve live systems, in collaboration with suppliers.
- Act as Technical Owner for robotic systems in GxP context including configuration, periodic reviews, change control.
- Define lifecycle management: maintenance, backup/restore, disaster recovery, obsolescence management.
- Lead commissioning, configuration and integration of automation & robotics solutions.
- Produce system documentation (URS, DS, Post‑Installation Guides, audit trail configurations).
- Program and troubleshoot Tecan/Hamilton liquid handlers, image analysis systems and 3D printers.
- Implement software aligned with technical requirements using agile and Dev Ops practices.
- Perform root cause analysis, debugging and code refactoring.
- Ensure compliance with IT, Data Integrity, QA, EHS and GxP standards.
- Maintain cross‑functional alignment with Business, QA, CSV, Procurement and suppliers.
- 2–5 years supporting IT, automation or robotics projects in R&D laboratories.
- Programming experience on liquid handlers (Tecan, Hamilton).
- Experience with image analysis technologies and automated equipment troubleshooting.
- Experience in software development, debugging and Dev Ops.
- Fluent in English;
French desirable.
- Knowledge in GxP environments and validation of Lab equipment.
- Strong understanding of automation & robotics technologies.
- Ability to translate business needs into automation solutions.
- Solid Knowledge of Liquid Handler programming (Tecan, Hamilton, etc). Programming certification would be a plus.
- Knowledge of programming and development for image analysis, robotics platforms and automation workflows.
- Understanding of system architecture, CI/CD and modern development practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform complex system testing.
- Solid Knowledge of 3D‑printer and tube labelling technologies.
